So far every DVD and Bluray has been playing fine. Once the disc is started, the trackpad buttons work fine. You can also use the keyboards arrows to navigate the menu. I found by scrolling over the option you want and just by pressing "ENTER" on the keyboard will start the disc. Some discs like "Cars" or "Enchanted" will disengage the trackpad on the disc menu making it impossible to start the movie with the trackpad right click button.
